Short-term rental properties hurting Temecula Valley Wine Country, some say

According to futurestay.com, the short-term rental market will reach $167.9 billion by 2019. That’s a big, big number.

It is an incredible rate of progress for an industry that didn’t even exist on the internet until Vacation Rentals by Owner, or VRBO, was launched in 1995.

But the industry didn’t truly take off until 2008 when Airbnb was launched, leveraging “Technology to economically empower millions of people around the world to unlock and monetize their spaces, passions, and talents to become hospitality entrepreneurs,” according to the company’s website.
