EASTVALE - A possible bomb scare prompted authorities to place an Eastvale school on lockdown today while deputies searched the grounds with canines.

The unconfirmed threat was received about 12:45 p.m. at Roosevelt High School, 7447 Scholar Way, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Armando Munoz told City News Service that teachers and students were told to remain in classrooms and other campus facilities while deputies and service dogs scoured the location.

By 2:30 p.m., no “credible threat'' had been identified, Munoz said, but the lockdown remained in place. It was expected to be lifted by the time the school day ends.

Roosevelt High was not among the 23 campuses in the Corona-Norco Unified School District that were ordered closed an additional week due to ash and debris hazards from the ``Holy Fire'' in the Cleveland National Forest. The first day of the academic year for those schools will be Aug. 20.
