4.4 magnitude tremor hits near Aguanga on Tuesday

Residents from the Desert communities to Murrieta felt a reported 4.4 magnitude earthquake Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 6:24 p.m. shaking floors and windows, but no apparent damage reported at the time.

The United State Geological Service reported the tremor originated 7 kilometers or approximately 6 miles east northeast of Aguanga, California and 9 miles from Anza. It was estimated to come a shallow fault, 0.6 kilometers below the surface.

Another earthquake with a magnitude 2.6 was reported by the USGS earlier that day out of Concord, California.
