Riverside man severely wounded in shooting near park

RIVERSIDE - A man shot near a park in the Eastside neighborhood of Riverside was in critical condition today, while the person who shot him remained at large.

The attack happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Georgia Street, just east of Bordwell Park, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Officer Ryan Railsback said multiple people called 911 to report gunfire in the area, and when officers reached the scene, they found the victim "suffering from a severe gunshot wound.''

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.

Officers canvassed the location but could not locate any suspects, Railsback said.

The motive was not immediately known.
