Anza VFW Post 1873 and Auxiliary announce mid-month menu

Last updated 8/22/2018 at 3:26pm

I’m back! My mind needed a vacation. I’ll try to keep up with my articles every other week. Other than being shut down for two weeks due to the power outages as far as meals go, nothing new or exciting has been going on.

We’re back to Friday dinners and Sunday breakfasts. But it looks as though that is going to change. Starting in September light dinners will be available at $6 on the first and third Wednesdays.

Laurie Knight and Annie Ashby have agreed to start off with hot meat sandwiches, salads & desserts. If anyone else wants to take a Wednesday. they’ll be more than happy to relinquish one of their Wednesdays. Just give kitchen chairman Debbie a call at 763-1291.

Activities for the rest of August, which is National Underwear Day – not sure what that entails – are:

Aug. 24 – Vickie’s Fried chicken, cooked greens, potato salad, roll, salad, dessert.

Aug. 26 – Laurie’s Eggs Fittata, maple sausage, breakfast potatoes, muffin, gourmet fruit salad.

Aug. 29 – Canteen snacks, hors devours potluck.

Aug. 31 – Debbi’s Polish sausage, sauerkraut, red potatoes, rye bread, salad bar, dessert.

Wednesday Canteen Snacks and hors devours potluck.

Thursday-$1 all beef hotdogs w/all the trimmings, 4-7 p.m.

Friday Dinners – 5-7 p.m.

Saturday - $1 all beef hot dogs with all the fixings. Canteen opens 3 p.m.

Sunday Breakfast – 8:30-10 a.m.

You don’t have to be a member of the VFW to enjoy a great meal. Meals are open to all and include coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Saturday: Canteen Snacks available 3 p.m.

If you were born in August, your birthstone is a peridot, and your flower is a gladiolus.
