Menifee opts out of community choice aggregation, calls for overhaul of Youth Advisory Committee

Menifee resident Louis Reyes urges the city to pass a resolution or submit an amicus brief against Senate Bill 54, which prevents cities from detaining individuals exclusively for immigration violations.

Menifee City Council voted Wednesday, Aug. 15, to reject an invitation to join a community choice aggregation that would put the management of electricity contracts for citizens in the hands of local city governments.

The majority of the meeting, which ran late into the evening Wednesday, was spent discussing the possibility of Menifee entering a community choice aggregation with the Western Riverside Council of Governments. The CCA would replace Southern California Edison as the manager of the city's electricity contracts.
