Temecula police officers and firefighters are set to participate in Temecula SAFE, the free public safety event, Oct. 20.

TEMECULA – Temecula has consistently been ranked as one of the safest cities in America. Residents can learn what makes the community so safe by attending a free public safety event, Temecula SAFE, Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Town Square Park in Old Town Temecula, 41000 Main Street.

"The city's 2018 theme, Temecula SAFE, presents a great opportunity for the city to host an event where families, including kids of all ages, can meet Temecula police officers and firefighters, take photos and learn about the important job they undertake daily to keep Temecula safe," Temecula Mayor Matt Rahn said.

Festivities will include a kids' fun area, emergency response informational booths and demonstrations and food trucks. The Temecula Education Foundation is partnering with the city for "Touch a Truck," as a variety of vehicles – emergency, transportation, construction, public health and safety and military – will be positioned in front of the Temecula Civic Center. Attendees can climb into the cabs, honk the horns, examine the equipment, flash the lights and talk to the men and women who work in and with the vehicles about how they use them to do their jobs. The first hour will be "No Noise Sixty Minutes," 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., for children who have adverse reactions to loud sudden noises.

For more information, contact the Community Services Department at (951) 694-6480.
