Do your children really know how you feel about them?

Parents normally have many feelings and emotional reactions related to their children. Of course, they love them, are happy for them and sometimes are driven crazy by them, but one of the things that research has shown is that parents often do a poor job of communicating these feelings to their children, especially their sense of how proud their children make them feel.

From a parent’s perspective, it might seem like an unfair criticism. It’s easy to believe that, of course, parents are proud of their children, and so, of course, children know how their parents feel. But the reality is...
