State Water Board says Lake Elsinore algal blooms at dangerous levels

Pets are especially at risk for illness

The California State Water Board issued its annual pre-Labor Day Assessment on Aug. 31 and it’s bad news for people hoping to find some time in the water at Lake Elsinore this holiday weekend.

The advisory is linked to a study by California state and regional water boards which conducted targeted sampling at many popular lakes and streams that have a history of harmful algal blooms (HABs).
