GIT officers confiscate guns, arrest 58 suspected criminals

Hemet Police Chief Rob Webb flanked by Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington and District Attorney Mike Hestrin announce illegal weapon confiscations and 58 suspected gang member and criminal arrests, Aug. 30, that were made by the joint Gang Impact Team. Standing behind them are supervising officers from different law enforcement agencies working together to reduce violent crimes in the San Jacinto Valley.

Law enforcement officers from 26 federal, state, county and local agencies fanned out Thursday morning, Aug. 30, to arrest 58 suspected criminals, illegal gun sellers and felons in possession of firearms in the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley.

The operation was the second of continuing law enforcement actions, called "Operation Valley Vigilance," that began last year to take as many illegal weapons as possible out of the hands of criminals and gang members to reduce the threat to the community.
