Temecula raises commissioners' pay for first time in 17 years

The Temecula City Council voted Aug. 28 to raise stipends for city board and commission members for the first time in nearly two decades.

Members of the public safety and community services commissions, which meet monthly and the planning commission, which meets twice a month, will be paid $100 per meeting attended.

Commissioners have received $50 per meeting since August 2001, the last time the council made changes to their pay.

“It’s long, long overdue,” Councilman Jeff Comerchero said of the raise.

A city staff report cited inflation – $50 in 2001 is equivalent to $71.14 in 2018...
