RIVERSIDE - Recruiters from the public and private sectors will be conducting interviews and possibly making tentative job offers today during a "Veterans Job Fair'' at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium.

The four-hour event is slated to start at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, and will involve about 30 entities, according to Loveland, Ohio-based RecruitMilitary, which is sponsoring the fair.

"Employers are actually competing among each other to hire highly trained military talent in the civilian workforce,'' said spokeswoman Devra Henderson. "Los Angeles-area employers will be on-site to hire hundreds of veterans, military spouses and transitioning military personnel.''

Exhibitors scheduled to be on hand include Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, First Command Financial Services Inc., Los Angeles County, Oracle Corp., the San Bernardino Police Department, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and Spectrum.

According to RecruitMilitary, Spectrum alone has nearly 1,000 positions it's seeking to fill.

Entrance to the fair is free, though only qualifying applicants will be considered for jobs, according to organizers.
