Palumbo Family Vineyards & Winery has endured struggle to find its place in wine country

Nick and Cindy Palumbo are the owners of Palumbo Family Vineyards & Winery. Nick Palumbo was a chef and a bassist in a band, and Cindy Palumbo was in the insurance industry before they dove headfirst into the wine industry 15 years ago.

Nick Palumbo is a lot of things: a lifeguard and self-admitted beach bum while growing up in San Diego; a bassist for the 1990s New York City post-grunge band, the Morning Glories, and a chef in NYC and San Diego who cooked for President George W. Bush and actor Wesley Snipes.

Today, along with his wife, Cindy, he's the owner, operator and winemaker for Palumbo Family Vineyards & Winery.

The Palumbos, along with their four children, Reed, Ryan, Sophia and Dominick, live and work on the 13 acres planted with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese varietals. They just...
