Murrieta City Council rejects appeal of planning commission decision on project near Loma Linda hospital

Murrieta City Council voted Sept. 4, to reject an appeal of the planning commission’s decision to allow a developer to move forward with subdividing 14 acres into five lots along Baxter Road near Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The owners of an adjacent plot of land, the McGrath family, appealed the May 9 approval by the planning commission after they and the developer, Makena Murrieta LLC, failed to come to an agreement on an easement for a road through the property.

In my opinion, Councilman Seyarto's support of private property landowner rights is not just correct in this case, but is part of a much larger bedrock fundamental of respect for private property rights in the United States. The 'greater good' in America is actually respect for individual rights ; while in contrast the 'greater good' in socialist societies respects only the government, often in the guise of the proletariat.
