Pursuit ends in crash, arrests in Temecula

Temecula Police Department reported that a police pursuit that began when robbery suspects led officers on a vehicle

pursuit in San Marcos that ended in a crash into two cars and the Interstate 15 median at around 11:35 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14.

An off-duty deputy witnessed three suspects robbing a Verizon store in the 700 block of Center Drive of San Marcos just after 11 a.m. while another suspect waited in a vehicle outside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects then led deputies on a vehicle pursuit northbound on Interstate 15, heading eventually into Riverside County, before their vehicle collided with two others, including a tractor-trailer, on the northbound side of I-15, just north of Winchester Road, the department reported.

No injuries were reported at the collision scene.

One suspect was taken into custody on the freeway and the other three fled on foot into a commercial district after the vehicle came to a stop. Riverside County sheriff's deputies helped locate the suspects, who were booked into custody without further incident at the Vista Detention Facility.

A suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and later released. The investigation is on-going.
