Motorist hurled through SUV window during MoVal crash

MORENO VALLEY - A motorist was ejected through the front windshield of his SUV on Thursday, Sept. 13, in a two-vehicle collision at a Moreno Valley intersection.

The crash happened about noon at Meridian Parkway and Van Buren Boulevard, near the entrance to Riverside National Cemetery, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses said a white Dodge Durango and a red-colored van collided after one of the drivers ran a red light.

The SUV driver was hurled through the windshield on impact, leaving him seriously injured, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The other motorist suffered minor injuries but apparently declined medical treatment.

Paramedics stabilized the first victim, who was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley.

The CHP was investigating the crash.
