Teen cut by log splitter air lifted to hospital

MOUNTAIN CENTER – A teen was accidentally cut with a log splitter and suffered the partial amputation of an upper extremity while at Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times in the San Bernardino National Forest Saturday, Sept. 22.

The injury occurred at around 3:40 p.m. at the camp in the 56000 block of Apple Canyon Road, about 3 miles southeast of Mountain Center, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital via air ambulance, she said.

The camp provides programs for children suffering from cancer and their family members.
