Four local Jewish congregations gather together at the Temecula Duck Pond for a Tashlich ritual in observance of the Jewish faith's new year, Rosh Hashanah, Sept. 10.

Members of several synagogues gathered at the Temecula Duck Pond Monday, Sept. 10, to observe Rosh Hashanah.

The worshippers heard from several speakers during the observance that included a reading of Tashlich.

Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days and is a time of rejoicing and of serious introspection for those of the Jewish faith.

The two days of Rosh Hashanah usher in the Ten Days of Repentance, also known as the Days of Awe or Yamim Noraim, which culminate in the major fast day of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
