RAINBOW - According to reports from the scene, two cars collided just south of the Rainbow Valley Road exit around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 on northbound Interstate 15, causing one of the cars to catch fire under the hood and later engulfing the entire car.

According to witness reports, several people stopped to help the car that was on fire by using shovels to pour dirt on the fire in attempts to put it out.

Witnesses reported a grey or silver vehicle had hit several other vehicles as well and fled the scene. It is unclear which vehicle had caused the accident and whether the second vehicle had stopped.

As of 5:45 p.m., witnesses reported the fire was extinguished and California Highway Patrol reports no injuries.
