RIVERSIDE – The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved the Riverside University Health System’s request to apply for state funds to bolster the county’s outreach programs targeting mentally ill transients on the streets, as well as those at risk of becoming homeless and in need of help due to psychiatric problems.

The board voted 4-0 – with Supervisor John Tavaglione absent – to grant RUHS officials permission to seek an allocation from the California Department of Health Care Services as part its “One-Time Homeless and Mentally Ill Outreach and Treatment Program.”
