Off-road sheriff training teaches deputies search and rescue, much more

In off-road training, sheriff deputies learn the trails surrounding Anza.

Anza Valley residents became aware of several Riverside County Sheriff's deputies riding low-speed UTVs off- and on-road in Anza, Sept. 4 and 15. Some people reported what they believed to be reckless behavior, and many even assumed that the utility vehicles were being used in a raid on a cannabis grow.

In fact, the deputies were in class on those days, taking off-road driver training classes conducted by Coach2Ride instructor Andrea Beach.
