Hemet council declares a 'Shelter Crisis' for the homeless in the city to gain SB 850 funding

The decision by the Hemet City Council at its Tuesday, Sept. 25, meeting may be good news to several area homeless shelters and the Salvation Army who may benefit from a portion of $10 million in the state’s Homeless Emergency Aid Program recently set aside for Riverside County.

Other nonprofit agencies in the city also learned that the city’s Community Block Grant Funds provided to help low and moderate income residents has been increased and the additional $9,061 will be reprogrammed in October to the local agencies most in need.
