LAKE ELSINORE - A 17-year-old girl was killed when she crashed a car into a power pole in Lake Elsinore, authorities announced over the weekend.

The motorist was going westbound on Railroad Canyon near Church Road where she smashed a Cadillac into a power pole along the north roadway edge, said Sgt. James Woodland of the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the crash scene at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, Woodland said.

The motorist, the lone occupant inside the car, was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, where she died from her injuries at 11:11 a.m. Saturday, according to the coroner's office.

The motorist was later identified as Kennedie Ryan, of Lake Elsinore, the coroner's office said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, Woodland said.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at (951) 245-3300.
