Police dog back on the beat after serious health scare

K-9 officer Dayka and her partner and handler, Temecula Police officer Matthew Cramer, have been working together for two years. Two months ago, Dayka contracted an infection that nearly took her life, but as of last week, Dayka was back on duty.

One of the fiercest – and arguably the cutest – member of the Temecula Police Department is back to work after suffering a life-threatening health scare that put her out of service for two months.

Temecula Police Department K-9 officer Dayka, a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois, had been laid up with an abscess infection that traveled through the dog's system, wreaking havoc on her body, collapsing one of her lungs and causing a blood clot.
