ANZA – Just a reminder that the Anza Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1873 and Auxiliary is still looking for volunteers to cook, prep or work the dinners. They have great help but can always use more.

Activities for November, which is Celebrate Empty Nest Month, are:

Nov. 2 – Vickie’s fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, greens, roll, salad bar, dessert

Nov. 4 – Tonie’s biscuits and gravy, eggs to order, sausage, potatoes, fruit, sweet rolls

Nov. 7 – Laurie’s grilled ham and cheese sandwich with potato and corn chowder, salad, dessert

Nov. 8 – Comrades’ meeting at 7 p.m.

Nov. 9 – Annie’s Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, veggies, salad bar, dessert

Nov. 10 – Auxiliary meeting at 10 a.m.

Nov. 11 – Sunday Champs serves customized-your-way omelets, potatoes, fruit, juice

Nov. 16 – Laurie’s traditional Thanksgiving feast with all homemade sides and pumpkin cheese cake

The Kitchen and Canteen will be closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22.

Wednesday – Canteen Snacks and hors d’oeuvres potluck

Thursday – $1 all-beef hot dogs with all the trimmings, 4-7 p.m.

Friday Dinners – 5-7 p.m.

Saturday - $1 all-beef hot dogs with all the fixings – Canteen opens 3 p.m.

Sunday Breakfast – 8:30-10 a.m.

The meals are open to all; you don’t have to be a member. All meals include coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

For those born in November, their birthstone is a topaz, and their flower is a chrysanthemum.

The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are “I apologize” and “You are right.”
