Board approves contract to combat citrus greening disease

RIVERSIDE – Riverside County supervisors approved a contract with the state to continue deploying staff from the county Office of the Agricultural Commissioner for countywide regulatory enforcement actions to contain and eliminate “citrus greening disease.”

In a 5-0 vote without comment, the supervisors accepted the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s $400,457 contract, which will cover the cost of county officials to carry on “bulk citrus regulatory activity” in the current fiscal year.

Funds will be allocated for inspections, quarantines and other measures needed...
