Art class at Little Red Schoolhouse 'rocks'

An example of a painted rock is displayed for the students at the rock painting class taught by Sundee Shelley-Ziegler Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Little Red Schoolhouse.

The Little Red Schoolhouse was transformed into a warm and accommodating classroom just like the olden days Saturday, Oct. 27.

International animal portrait artist Sundee Shelley-Ziegler of Desert Mountain Art Studio taught a creative art class on the painting of smooth stones. Acrylic paints are most often used for this craft, she said. A huge variety of colors were provided to her half-dozen students.

Shelley-Ziegler furnished different artistic subjects to act as models for the painters, from pictures of cats, kittens, puppies, squirrels and other wildlife, to flowers, cactus and other...
