Polls are now closed, and the following are the results for the Nov. 6 midterm election as of 7:45 a.m. a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Republican John Cox conceded the governor’s race to Democratic Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, around 9:30 p.m., with Newsom continuing to widen his lead as vote-counting continued.

Despite the loss, the San Diego businessman said he was proud of the campaign he ran and the message he conveyed.

"We highlighted the incredible struggle that the people of this state have had for years under the people that are running this state," Cox told supporters in San Diego. "We identified the needs of these people. They can't afford housing, the can't afford gasoline, they can't afford the basics of life."

In one of the more hotly contested races Sheriff Stan Sniff is struggling to win a third term as challenger Lt. Chad Bianco's lead continues to widen. As of the Riverside County Registrar of Voter's 7:28 a.m. update, Bianco leads Sniff by just over 13 points.

Locally, Menifee votes appear to be against both Measure I, the measure to eliminate the at-large mayor and Measure J, the measure to eliminating the city's term limits for city council members. In Murrieta, Measure T, a one cent sales tax supporting public safety, appears to be poised to pass. Wildomar's Measure AA, a one cent sales tax supporting public safety, has a nearly 60 percent voter approval at the Riverside County Registrar of Voter's 7:28 a.m. election update.

Voters in Hemet appear to have a mixed bag with Measures X and Z, a school district bond and a marijuana tax measure backed by city council, respectively. Meanwhile, Measure Y, a competing measure to Z, appears to be much less popular with voters.

Only contested races and ballot measures are listed.
