Veterans honored during Quilts of Valor event at Maurice Car'rie Winery

Veterans from the Army, Navy and Marine Corps receive Quilts of Valor from the Hilltoppers Quilts of Valor group Saturday, Nov. 10, during a ceremony at Maurice Car'rie Winery.

More than 100 people thanked, applauded and cheered Saturday, Nov. 10, when 10 veterans were presented with Quilts of Valor during a ceremony at Maurice Car'rie Winery.

"It's wonderful that the civilian population stops and just takes time to honor us and remember us," U.S. Marine Corps veteran Norman Renfro said, who served in three wars and will turn 90 years old in December. "We put our time in, and it's our duty to do that. But I just appreciate these people so much, these people coming together and just taking time to honor us this morning."
