Temecula police seeking help with cyberstalking investigation

Last updated 11/16/2018 at 11:15am

The Temecula Police Department is seeking the public's help and information regarding a cyberstalking investigation the department has been conducting since May.

The investigation began after a young woman in the Temecula area reported that a person who used a screen name identified as "territory" extorted nude photographs from her through social media. Since the investigation began, more young women have been identified as victims involving similar acts.

In each incident, the suspect compromised social media accounts belonging to young women and extorted nude photographs of them. The suspect utilized additional screen names as "territorygod," "iamterritory," "territorywow," and other variations with the word "territory."

Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation or who may have been a victim of a similar crime is encouraged to contact Investigator Cornett at the Temecula Police Department (951) 696-3000 or Riverside County Sheriff's Department Dispatch (951) 776-1099.
