Two arrested during Temecula checkpoint

TEMECULA - A driver's license and sobriety checkpoint in Temecula on Friday, Nov. 16 nabbed two intoxicated drivers, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department conducted the checkpoint between 8 p.m. Friday and 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 26000 block of Ynez Road.

Of 1,495 drivers screened, two people were arrested for driving while intoxicated and 11 people were either cited or arrested for driving unlicensed or with a suspended license, Sgt. Joseph Greco said.

In addition, one person was cited for a health and safety code violation.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
