Republicans choose representatives who will keep working for the rich

Dear Editor,

Many Republican voters in this area should be ashamed. Ken Calvert never comes to this home district for town hall meetings, and Julia Peacock would have been a very effective replacement.

More amazing were those in Temecula who voted to keep Duncan Hunter, even though he has been indicted on an amazing 60 federal counts of alleged misuse of campaign funds. What does it take for Republicans to oust someone? This is what was discussed at length on national TV. On John Oliver’s HBO show, on MSNBC, on CNN and others, there was disbelief that anyone would vote for someone who could be in jail months from now. The Temecula-area people who voted for Hunter are literally a national laughing stock.

Compounding the matter, they accepted and were in some cases convinced by completely false and racist advertising by the Hunter campaign. Ads falsely accused his opponent Ammar Campa-Najjar of “terrorist links” in his background, even though he had been vetted by the FBI for several positions including in the White House.

Republican voters had opportunities to vote in good people who would work hard for low- and middle-income people. Instead, they kept representatives who will keep working primarily for the rich.
