ConnectAnza wins 'Smart County' award

ONTARIO – ConnectAnza, the broadband program from Anza Electric Cooperative, won first prize in the category of "Smart City/County" at the Inland Empire Economic Partnership Awards, "Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet."

"It is a great honor for our community to be recognized for our efforts to bridge the Digital Divide in rural California," AEC General Manager Kevin Short said.

The Inland Empire Economic Partnership annually recognizes efforts by local governmental entities for significant improvements in their communities. This year, the working partnership between Riverside County and Anza Electric Cooperative to develop high speed broadband access and computer literacy in the unincorporated areas of Riverside County surrounding Anza, Aguanga, Mountain Center and Pinyon received the highest honors.

The Inland Empire Economic Partnership is the region's only economic development organization. They support efforts in job creation, leadership infrastructure and regional advocacy for Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The Inland Empire Economic Partnership is dedicated to creating economic opportunities that promote a better quality of life for over 4.5 million people in the region.
