Girls Scouts help a family's neighborhood gain a 'Deaf Children Near' sign

McKenzie Butt, Joslynn Enriquez, Kennedy Baird and Isabella Adkins, member of Girls Scout Troop 273, celebrate the installation of a "Deaf Children Near" sign in support of the Mick family. The girls wrote letters to Temecula traffic engineer Jerry Gonzalez, who help make it happen.

Part of Girl Scout Troop 273 had the first Deaf Children Near sign put up in Temecula, Sept. 20. The sign was put up to ensure the safety of Oywn Mick. He became deaf at 18 months following a high fever that lead to multiple strokes. When our Girl Scout troop heard he was in need of a sign on his street, we immediately went to action contacting Jerry Gonzalez at city Public Works. The girls that were interested in writing letters to Gonzalez made that happen quickly. Gonzalez was on board in making this happen.
