VFW Post 4089 gives turkeys, fixings to area vets, active service military

Kikey Munguia, whose husband is an active duty Marine, receives a free turkey for Thanksgiving during a distribution event for local veterans and active duty military hosted by the Temecula Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4089 and Post 4089 Auxiliary, Nov. 20.

Facilitated by the group's auxiliary members, the Temecula Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4089 distributed 100 turkeys and some fixings to area veterans and active military personnel.

But it almost didn't happen – or at least was a little more difficult to make happen this year.

"For some reason there was a shortage of donations this year," Post Cmdr. John Hernandez said. "But we had a major company right down the street – ZebraSci – donated $2,000 for turkeys, and now we have an abundance of turkeys."
