Lake Elsinore Unified School District Public Information Officer Mark Dennis issued a statement on Saturday, Dec. 8 regarding the investigation over the weekend of a threat made on social media involving Lakeside High School.

"Since Friday afternoon and continuing today, in cooperation with local law enforcement, there has been an investigation into a report of a social media post about a potential threat against Lakeside High School next week," Dennis said in the statement distributed to school parents through SchoolMessenger. "This threat has been found to be non-credible by law enforcement. Tonight, we want to let our Lancer students and parents know that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the district have investigated this matter thoroughly in making this determination."

Dennis went on to indicate that school would be in session on Monday, Dec. 10, and the school "will have an additional police presence" on campus.

Dennis did not elaborate on the nature of the threat or whether an arrest had been made.

"Again, we want to reassure you that the security and safety of our campus is our number one priority," he said.

Dennis said that parents with questions regarding the message should contact the school office during school hours on Monday.
