A report on Tuesday, Dec. 18 by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced that a 6-year-old boy from Lake Elsinore succumbed to injuries he sustained when he was hit by a vehicle more than a week earlier in Lake Elsinore.

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, an officer of the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Riverside Drive near Eisenhower in Lake Elsinore and learned a juvenile had been struck by a vehicle and was unresponsive.

Officers immediately began administering CPR, gained a pulse, and the juvenile was ultimately airlifted to Riverside University Healthcare System Hospital. On Monday, Dec. 17, the boy, whose name is being withheld due to his age, succumbed to his injuries caused by the collision.

The Lake Elsinore Traffic Team is conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with further information about the collision is encouraged to contact Officer Petersen at the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300.
