MENIFEE –The City of Menifee currently has four vacancies within Menifee’s commissions and committees — one vacancy within the Planning Commission, one vacancy within the Parks, Recreation & Trails Commission, and two vacancies within the Senior Advisory Committee: the at-large seat and the District 1 seat.

Menifee residents are encouraged to get involved with their community and apply for the seats.

The Planning Commission is authorized to review specific land use projects, hold hearings and act on zoning ordinances, maps, conditional use permits, and variances. The Planning Commission meets twice per month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Commissioners may also be required to attend occasional workshops or special meetings held at different times. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled and the position will be filled on or after January 16, 2019. The term of the position will run concurrent with the term of the appointing Councilmember, Liesemeyer, ending in 2022.

The Parks, Recreation, and Trails Commission will be responsible for advising staff and City Council regarding the maintenance and operations of parks throughout Menifee. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The term of the office will run concurrent with the term of the appointing Councilmember, Dean Deines, ending in 2022.

The Senior Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to City staff and City Council on issues pertaining to Menifee seniors. The Committee evaluates the needs of seniors in the community and shares recommendations on how to better meet those needs. Applicants must be a senior of 55 years of age or older. Applications will be accepted until January 9th at 5 p.m. and the positions will be filled on or after January 16, 2019. The term of office is a two-year term and will end in 2020.

“Community involvement is critical to a well-run city,” said City Manager Armando Villa. “These committee and commission members will provide staff and City Council with valuable insight and key recommendations to help guide decision-making, so ultimately the City of Menifee can better serve its residents and community.”

The Planning Commission, Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission include five seats, one per voting district appointed by the City Council member representing each district and the Senior Advisory Committee is a seven-member committee. Eligibility for all commissions include: a current city resident, a registered voter, and not be a member of any other city commission or city office or city employee.
