The Naughty Pig looking to slice into Temecula market

The Naughty Pig co-owner Daniel K. Johnson stands in his new shop, located just south of Old Town Temecula.

Chef Daniel K. Johnson believes a desire for quality meats with a proven backstory is bringing back the neighborhood butcher shop.

That's why his butcher-slash-deli business has added a second location in Temecula just three years after opening its first location in Murrieta.

"Butcher shops like ours are coming back because as grocery stores become more price driven, the quality has seemed to suffer," Johnson said. "Our customers want to know all about the beef, chicken, pork, seafood, where it is from, what's not in it and the quality grade of the meat."

I was impressed when the Naughty Pig opened shop a few years ago near Murrieta's 'Golden Mile' (a recently coined term referring to the BIG radius of commercial activity that has been gaining momentum all around the Jefferson/Murrieta Hot Springs Road hub). And now this very smart pig has opted to to open a second location, this one south of Temecula's Old Town. Very business-savvy moves. These two locations have a lot more in common than meets the eye. 'Congrats' to the proprietors.
