Chaparral students donate gifts

Chaparral High School students and alumni from senior English teacher Ryan Leonhardi's class arrive with a variety of Christmas presents to give to homeless families that stay at the Valley Restart Shelter in Hemet, Dec. 11.

Students in Ryan Leonhardi's senior English classes at Chaparral High School know how it feels to give back to the community thanks to a program Leonhardi started 13 years ago.

"The students from my senior English classes are once again purchasing toys, clothes and other presents for the families at The Valley Restart Shelter in Hemet," Leonhardi said.

The group took it upon themselves to buy Christmas gifts for 51 children and adults who live at the shelter. The students and alumni, along with other Chaparral students who are in foster care or homeless themselves, wrapped more than 250 gi...
