Last updated 12/24/2018 at 9:16am

The Menifee Police Department's Saturation Patrol was held in various locations throughout the city of Menifee between the hours of 8 p.m. Dec. 21 and 2 a.m. Dec. 22, resulting in 28 vehicle enforcement stops, three arrests of drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, one driver cited and arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked and 19 citations were issued.

In recent years, California has seen a disturbing increase in drug-impaired driving crashes. Menifee Police Department supports the new effort from the Office of Traffic Safety that aims to educate all drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” If you take prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, you might be impaired enough to get a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs, and can result in a DUI.

The DUI Saturation Patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
