Domestic violence suspect shot by deputies in San Jacinto, later dies at hospital

SAN JACINTO - A knife-wielding suspect was shot by officers following a confrontation with San Jacinto Police Department officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance call in San Jacinto on Thursday, Dec. 20.

Officers were called to the area of South Ramona Boulevard and East Main Street based on information the officers received that a male adult subject was armed with a knife and threatening a female. According to the police department, officers made contact with the armed subject and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. There were no injuries sustained by law enforcement personnel and the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The suspect’s name has not been released, pending the ongoing investigation and notification of next of kin. Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.
