Police: Aunt killed by nephew near French Valley

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced late Saturday, Dec. 22 that a man has been arrested for murder in the death of his aunt at the residence they shared near French Valley.

Earlier in the day, at 9:42 a.m., deputies assigned to the Southwest Station were dispatched to an "assault" at a residence located in the 37000 block of Apple Gate Road, in the unincorporated area of French Valley.

According to the statement released by the department, "Deputies arrived and located an adult female victim, identified as Deborah Moyer, 66 of French Valley, deceased on the property. The suspect was later identified as Brandon Trappen, 31, of French Valley, and was arrested at the scene by deputies without further incident."

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department-Central Homicide Unit and investigators with the Southwest Station have assumed the investigation.

According to the report, "The victim was Mr. Trappen's aunt and both lived together at the residence."

Trappen was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder.
