For Slavisa "Max" Maksimovic, packing up his trucks and heading to flood and hurricane affected regions in Florida and Texas in the past year was a no brainer.

Maksimovic and his partner, Joe Hernandez, received a call from other Rytech franchises in Texas, asking them to help with the sheer volume of work the hurricane cleanup required.

Though the trip cost the business about $30,000, Maksimovic said, and other people in the business said it wouldn't be worth it, they went anyway.

"It is a couple of things, it feels good to help people and it is good experience for our team," Maksimovic said from his office near Old Town Temecula. "I didn't know what to expect when we got to those places, but when we got there, it was really scary. We did about 60 jobs in one month in Houston, it was hard. But we just got a testimonial from one of the homeowners, and it is nice to see that people were satisfied with the quality of work we provided."

Rytech are the water damage and mold specialists that handle everything from busted pipes, flooding, appliance failure, storm damage, roof leaks, residential and commercial, structural drying, water removal, humidity control, content drying and cleaning, moisture detection, raw sewage cleanup, mold remediation to fire damage.

Maksimovic and Hernandez were co-workers at Rytech at a franchise out of San Diego when the two started kicking around the idea of becoming partners in a new franchise.

"It started as a joke," Maksimovic said. "Then it became more serious and started to realize that we both know the industry and the business and we just decided to get our own franchise."

They have been open for a little more than a year in Temecula, and soon they will open a second franchise location in San Bernardino, Jan. 1.

Rytech offers 24/7 emergency services, and Maksimovic said if residents call them, they will most likely hear his voice when he answers, day or night. They offer direct insurance billing, are licensed, bonded and insured and feature IICRC certified technicians. All of their work is 100 percent guaranteed.

Both Maksimovic and Hernandez are certified technicians in several different categories and have almost two decades of combined experience in the field.

So when should a potential customer call Rytech?

"Anytime they have any type of suspicious issues with a house," Maksimovic said. "Floods, no doubt, you should contact your insurance company right away. But anything else, they can call us and get a professional opinion right away before they call their insurance company."

Maksimovic said oftentimes homeowners are hesitant to call their insurance company when they think something is wrong because of a fear of increased rates as a result.

"Just call us, many times, we won't charge anything to give our opinion on what a homeowner needs or doesn't need," he said. "We can advise them to file a claim or not to file a claim, and that is a big help in situations like that."

Rytech can be reached at its 24-hour emergency response line by calling (951) 329-3620 or by visiting for more information.
