DMV reminds motorists of new 2019 laws

SACRAMENTO – With the New Year just around the corner, the California Department of Motor Vehicles informed the public about several new laws or changes to existing law that, unless otherwise noted, take effect Jan. 1.

The Temporary License Plate Program, Assembly Bill 516, which was written by Assemblymember Kevin Mullin, D-San Mateo, requires licensed California dealers of new and used vehicles to attach temporary paper license plates on a vehicle at the point of sale if that vehicle does not display license plates previously issued by the DMV.
