Supervisors approve new DEH office in Murrieta

Last updated 12/27/2018 at 10:22pm

The Riverside County Department of Environmental Health office in Murrieta will move from Sky Canyon Drive to Technology Drive in Murrieta.

A 5-0 Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 4, to approve a lease for the office space at 30125 Technology Drive. The seven-year lease term will begin upon completion of leasehold improvements, which is expected to occur by the end of the calendar year.

The office space at 38740 Sky Canyon Drive totals 4,300 square feet, which is now considered too small for their needs. The board of supervisors authorized the real estate division of the county’s Economic Development Agency, May 1, to work with the Department of Environmental Health on finding a property of approximately 5,700 square feet in southwest Riverside County.

The facility on Technology Drive is owned by Temecula Business Park and will provide 5,507 square feet of office space, which was deemed suitable for their needs. The facility has sufficient parking for both the staff and the public, including 15 secured parking stalls for county vehicles. The initial lease will be $1.95 per square foot, which equates to $10,738.65 monthly or $128,883.80 on an annual basis, and a tenant improvement allowance of $15.00 per square foot, or $82,605, was negotiated to cover improvements including new carpet and paint, construction of an additional office, a built-in countertop reception desk with a glass enclosure, the removal of one door in the lobby area, the reconfiguration of an existing room into a break room and additional electrical drops to connect to desks and other furniture. The rent will increase by three percent annually.

The county will pay for electricity and telephone utility services. Temecula Business Park will be responsible for all other utilities including water, sewer and trash and will also be responsible for maintenance and custodial services.
