Riverside DA's office Pop-up Shop idea is a boon to 'at risk' high school students

Mountain View High School and Academy students work hard to earn these "Pop-up Shop" bucks to purchase everything from clothes to televisions Thursday, Dec. 13, in the school gym.

Riverside County District Attorney Sharon Shuster, attached to the DA's Crime Prevention Unit and grew up in Beverly Hills, wasn't always like her wealthy friends. She came from a wealthy family, until her father left the family almost penniless.

Shuster, with the help of caring adults and friends, managed to pull her way out of poverty and become the educated crime fighter she is today. Not, a crime fighter with gun and badge, but with her heart and care for youth. She said she knows what today's at-risk youth feel – what those nearing high school dropout status and frequent truancy nee...
