People board a horse-drawn carriage for a ride around Old Town Temecula, which was provided by the Temecula Carriage Company during the inaugural Winter Solstice event at Sam Hicks Park, Saturday, Dec. 22.

The shortest day of the year led to no shortage of fun for those in attendance at the inaugural Winter Solstice event hosted by the city of Temecula at Sam Hicks Monument Park Saturday, Dec. 22.

Complete with performances, horse-drawn carriage rides from the Temecula Carriage Company and visits with Santa Claus, the event was a hit for those looking to add some fun to their holiday celebrations.

The free event included a Broadway in the Park performance by The Barn Stage Company and refreshments – all under the stars and a "Full Cold Moon."
