Kids of Anza sent six local children to the Pathfinder Ranch for a three-day winter camp adventure Friday, Dec. 28.

Pathfinder Ranch is an independent nonprofit retreat and conference center, as well as a summer camp and science and outdoor education school, located in Mountain Center. They offer weeklong camps, three- to five-day outdoor education field trips, family rentals and retreat programs.

Activities such as archery, hiking, rock climbing and crafts were on the agenda for the camp.

Joaquin Riviera, 7, announced that he loved the archery and hiking and that the counselors made a big impression on him.

"We want to thank Ty Ellington, Anza Gas Service and friends, family and employees," KOA founder Russell Kitchen said. "Thank you for sponsoring our local kids. KOA appreciates everything Anza Gas does for our community."

Ten-year-old Sebastian Soriano said that he had the time of his life. He loved hiking and all of the cool things they had to do and meeting new friends, he said.

Eric Soriano, 8, said he thought it was going to be hard to be away from his home and family, but he forgot everything the minute he walked into Pathfinder Ranch. He said he had an exciting three days and greatly admired the counselors.

Zachary Lane, 13, from Aguanga said he had the time of his life and could not wait to go back someday. He enjoyed the archery, rock climbing and so many of the other activities. When he arrived home, he couldn't stop telling his parents about the great time he had, they said.

Kids of Anza said they plan to send more children to Pathfinder Ranch over the course of the coming year.
