Community rallies around softball league victimized by break-in

This photo was taken immediately after it was discovered that a storage bin owned by Lake Elsinore Girls Softball was broken into and trashed, and thousands of dollars' worth of equipment was stolen sometime between Dec. 28 and Dec. 29.

In the overnight hours between Friday, Dec. 28, and Saturday, Dec. 29, someone broke into the Lake Elsinore Girls Softball storage bin and stole and destroyed an estimated $5,000 worth of equipment.

By Monday, Jan. 7, members of the community and beyond, competing leagues and anonymous donors have come to the league's rescue with equipment donations and cash donations through a GoFundMe account opened after the crime was discovered.

According to Mike Norkin, LEGS board president, $5,565 of $5,000 goal set in the online campaign has been raised, and the campaign was set to end within hours...
